Assistive Technology Evaluation Overview
In an effort to maximize independence and academic success, Disability Support Services at Southern Illinois University Carbondale provides training and access to a wide variety of assistive technologies. These devices range from simple input devices, to screen reading software, to brainwave and eye response technology.
Consultation and Assistive Technology (AT) Evaluations are provided on a fee-for-service basis through our department. Individuals who undergo an AT evaluation will be provided with an individualized, detailed report that provides recommendations on what types of AT software or devices would most benefit them and how to proceed in attaining and utilizing AT in academic, domestic, and/or professional settings. Consultation is also available for institutions wanting to set up their own AT or Alternative Text Conversion Lab. In-house or onsite services are available.
