Fee-For-Services - Text Conversion

TEXT CONVERSION

While Text Conversion is a free service to SIUC students, DSS can also provide alternate format by scanning and converting print based materials for other institutions, agencies, and businesses. Estimates on cost and time of production are available.

Just as there are a variety of reasons why individuals might need text available in alternate format, there are also a variety of available formats. The cost of converting text is dependent on a number of factors including the format that is required (i.e. E-Text, Braille, MP3), the clarity of the documents being converted (i.e. pen marks, highlights), and the information that is needed (i.e. tables, charts, graphs, etc.).

Electronic Text (E-Text)

Electronic Text allows individuals to access reading materials in different ways including the use of a screen reader, screen enlarging software, or manipulation of color/contrast of materials. Electronic Text Conversion (i.e. Microsoft Word, RTF, TXT, PDF, etc.)
